IELTS Life Skills test is an important part of the UK Visa and Immigration process. IELTS Life Skills test is an English proficiency test offered by three IELTS test partners – British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia, and Cambridge English Language Assessment. IELTS Life Skills evaluates the candidate’s speaking and listening skills at CEFR (Common European Framework of reference) level A1, A2, and CEFR level B1. This test is designed to complement various UK visa and immigration purposes and fulfill their requirements.

These tests are designed for testing your English proficiency levels. It is different from the Life Skills A1 test in the purpose of the application, although the format remains the same. IELTS Life Skills B1 is applicable for aspirants who have completed five years of residence and now seek a settlement, commonly referred to as ‘indefinite leave to remain’ (ILR).

Based on your English speaking and listening skills IELTS examiner evaluates your English competency based on the following criteria.

What is the format of the IELTS life skills B1 test result?

You get a pass result if you score 4 or above 4 out of 9. Your TRF either mentions pass or fail. Pass means you can move forward with your visa application process while failing means you have failed your test and this result cannot be used for your visa application purpose.

How many attempts am I allowed to attempt and when will I receive my result for IELTS life skills B1?

There is no limitation for taking retests, also your test report form will be obtained within seven days of your IELTS life skills B1 test attempt.

Is there any break in between the test?

No, there is no break in between. Speaking and listening tests are conducted in a single session.
